Right to Information

The Government has given a fantastic tool to empower the citizens. People have just started using the RTI and are realizing its potential, it is too soon to make any amendments.
I speak as an ordinary Citizen and when you talk of amending the Act and diluting the same you take away the essence for what it stands for, that is - Right to Information.

I am fully supportive of the Citizens’ concerns and I too feel that to have good governance, transparency and accountability is most important.

    Dear Madam,

Yes this is a great tool which gives citizens more rights then the mere ‘Right To Vote’. People geniunely doing something for the people will not have any objections to this act but others may have.

I really appreciate your support for the same.

    Thanks.

Kaise hai app main ne app ka ye website 4 september ko Newspaper main deeka main next day ese open kya oor main ne app se chat bi karna chaha magar wo pata nahi app ki website main account kaise create hota hai?…….muje sunjay dutt buhat achi lagtee hai oor app bi muje achi lagtee hoo

  3. Anil Rao Says:

I agree with both comments above. My one concern: the government should not make any attempts at amending the act that will dilute it and make this momentous decision and right, fractured and farcical.

  4. Owen Says:

Hi Anil, Good to see you here…… I believe very strongly in RTI, but I hope that we as citizens use it wisely in the genral interest of all and not just for self… We have often seen good and useful laws being twisted and turned into something ugly. I hope this will not be one of those….I have personally seem the RTI being used is a number of PLIs and then these PLI’s being ’settled’ outside court, while the problem still persists…..this could be dangerous as well…

  5. Gaurav Goel Says:

    Hi,

This is certainly a step in right direction. However, I have one concern. Nobody is taking the step to make aware people how to use RTI for matters of social or national interest. I would really appreciate if the leaders and media work towards educating people to make good use of it. People need to know more about it.

To use RTI effectively people should be made aware where and how. Otherwise, it going to be used mostly for petty things. I don’t know… how that can be achieved? Who is going to take that step? Are there any plans for that?

Let us do something to bring right issues to people’s mind. Rest will take care of itself.

  6. Krishna Says:

    Hi ,

Yes. We all support RTI in its present form, any amendment to the same will take away the essense of the word RIGHT TO INFORMATION.

We appreciate the stand taken by Priya Dutt on the same, she was the first person to voice her concern.

  7. Anil Kumar Says:

    Dear Madam,
It is a excellent site launched by u for the people.I want to ask why we r still thinking about reservation. Why we cannot think to abolish reservation chapter from constituitrion.

  8. Mukesh Makhija Says:

    Dear Priyaji,
    Congrats on the website.
I have been wanting to meet you but not been able to meet due to time constraints.Hence this is good.
1.Can we use this tool to get to know how the System works for your Constituency?
2.The problems I see in mumbai are that the BMC gives permits to buildings and Bakras etc… without consultation with other departments. The problem is huge as the Departments are not linked.
Hence the need for point 1.
3.Lack of Dustbins: there is a immense lack of Dustbins in our area. I have been holding on to my rubbish since 1994 without a spot that i can throw the rubbish and since than i have ended up throwing rubbish on the street after holding on to my rubbish for more than 10 to 20 minutes.(How can we keep the city clean without Dustbins?)
    Wishing you the best

congratulations!!! on the site. i am a student of architecture and working on my thesis which is “to create a common platform for public participation in local governance.”
reacting to your blog on RTI. it is grt to know tht u r for the ACT. but there is an inherent problem to use this . the problem of only ppl who know abt their local government offices wld use it. but we also need to initiate awareness regarding the knowledge and presence of the government at the most local levels, to the most common person who does not even knw how to read or write. well this is a difficult one.
hope the RTI gets to be used by the slums too…..

  10. Rajiv R Nair Says:

    Dear Ms Priya Dutt,

I think this is a fantastic Iniative from your side to get closer to your people, but at the same time i am not sure how much this would actually help in changing our society. Since however good a politician is, at the end of the day he plays politics considering the votebank and in no way i have come across a politician who actually feels for the society and can do wonders. Nevertheless, Late Shri Sunil Dutt Ji, has done good work for this region and he will always be remebered as the favorite leader of this region.

I also beleive that we as Individuals cant complain about it since we also dont particpate in politics, thinking that let us be focussed on our careers and make a mark for ourselves in our feild rather than trying to get into politics, I have been passionate about our society tried to change things where i felt things were wrong but then realised i guess i am too passionate about these issues and it hurts when things dont work the way you perceive due to lack of support from the various machinary.

One thing I can only request is that since you are one of the new generation politician and like us educated and gone global and having global perspective, request you to really bring about a change in terms of changing things in our constituency, in terms of the working of all the machinary. I beleive you have it in you to take the lead and initiative and if you can be a global politician then one day i am confident that you will be the person leading our nation in global economy and politics.

I opologise if i have written something which i should not have but since i am a passioante guy about various issues, just wrote my heart out.

    Thanks.

mam, by launching your website, one more time you prooved that you are close to people & wants to understand their day to day life problems.

You are among the few politicians who wants to serve for the nation & its people. Your drive & support for RTI act shows how you want to spread awareness of peoples right.

We expect your dreams get converted into ideas, Ideas into action & your action into RESULTS.

Young Indians like me having very high hopes from you. Please keep this working spirit. Also please take bigger roles outside your constituency.

    with regards,

  12. Chirag Shah Says:

    Hi
Nice to hear about your website, may be now we can reach to you with our complaints.

    I reside at Bhardawadi Rd, Andheri(west), Mumbai - 58.
This area in under Congress MLA . Despite various complaints to him and corporators nothing had turn fruitfull. This area largely constitutes of Gujrati & MArwari business community along with old MAharashtrain retired bank employees. This entire road starting from : opposite YMCA — Bhardawadi Raod —- S.v.Road. ( please note this is a one way road & only road to reach andheri station on west side). I request you to personally travel by this stretch & experience the pain & agony that thousands of tax payers face day in day out. Every monsoon this entire stretch is full of dirt & water clogging. there is no signal, plus to add to inconvienance illegal trucks are parked on both sides of the road, creating lots of traffic & noise pollution. Even the garbage van visits this place once a week, maing it simply worse.

All it needs is a concreatised road on this stretch of 1 km, installing traffic signals & not traffic havaldars & making it 24 hrs no parking zone.

Apart from this the road from Andheri Station (west) to Andheri Market if full of illegal vendors. there is simply no place to walk on the road. Why cant our authorirties do something to solve certain basic issues. Aren’t we tax payers atleast eligible to basis amenities in proper manner.

  13. Pam Saxena Says:

    Dear Priyaji,

I think the reservation proposals that are being propagated by your party are not historic but prehistoric. Imagine instead of teaching everybody to be competitive in this competitive world, you people are giving fresh handicap to some citizens. And everybody knows that the poor or downtrodden are not going to benefit from these (poor things do not even have primary education, forget postgraduate education). It is the people who already have good opportunities before them who will get a benefit. And by including the creamy layer, your party is showing that they are really interested only in their own betterment and the betterment of the affluent; otherwise they would stand to lose if creamy layer is excluded from the reservations. Please speak up for your voters and ensure that creamy layer is not included or reservations itself are not brought about. We had voted you so that you would represent us, not create legislations that would be detrimental to our children.

  14. Sachin Sharma Says:

    Hi Priyaji,

Congratulations on launching the web site.
I am a software professional.I fully support RTI in it’s present form. It’s an amzaing tool in the hands of common people.Unfortunately not every one knows it’s power and the mechanism to use it.We need to educate people about every aspect of RTI.It would be really unfortunate,if government makes any amendment to present form of RTI without any valid reason.

Thanks again for providing us this platform to express our views and opinions.

    Keep the good work going.

    Good Luck.
    Sachin.

    To,
    President of India,
    Prime Minister Of India
    Finance Minister of India
    Honorable Member of Parliament,
    Chief Justice of India.
    Governor Reserve bank of India

Sub: - Selling of Govt land & Banks are financing on it blindly.

Ref: - 28/07/2006 CBI has made raid in Delhi on builders & MCD Xens, AEnS. At Indore Raj Tower demolished by State Administration & many more cases in India.

    Dear Sir or Madam:
In India there is boom comes in home loan sector & banks, other financial institutions are doing harsh racing to beat each other that is good for the health of growth of Indian economy but in all cases are being done without physical verification of property in terms of its location whether these are made on proper land means comes on illegally encroachment on Government land as on 28/07/2006 CBI has made raid in Dehli on builders & MCD Xens, AEnS. At Indore Raj Tower demolished by State Administration. In said cases only innocent buyers will sufferer those who have loans, in such condition bank will made them bankrupt or whole life he will have to pay & if person not able to pay than will Banks seize Govt. Land?
At the course of sanction of Property loan bank takes “search reports” from local advocate in which they just look permission papers & take search report from advocate that only gives information of registered land & near location of Plot/ Khasra/ gali / Road etc. it does not give Assurance of building whether it is build on the exact said plot Location or elsewhere (may be on Govt. land).
In this race not only private banks are involved but government banks are also having same procedures. If any person did not pay loan back than bank will seize govt land & builder will enjoy & consumer gets bankrupt. Is it justified? Please think about it & raise the question to Banks/ RBI or on appropriate platform.
One similar situation is also arising In the Ratlam there are major house/ land customers are these Railway & Other govt. servants. The builders & colonizers may have a nexus with some patwaries because they have to verify land twice in year, the main land record-keeping link of local administration & ignorance by town country planning dept, which is the prime initiator for sanction, the maps etc. This nexus is selling govt. land with there own land to innocent people. The builders misguide to consumer that banks are financing so project is valid. Because banks made “search reports” by their own advocates but in my case bank people says that we have not made than how it comes & on what basis the loan got sanctioned. The registry is not valid item as registrar office says that we don’t take any colony map or whatever colonizer allots plot number that will be his headache.
Recently on 13/06/06 honorable collector Ratlam have taken very good
Step on a local citizens complaint (TehsilDar nazul case No. 2-A/68/05-06). The survey Made on viriyakhedi’s khasra no.106/1-6, 108/1-6, 109/1 & it was found That one colonizer had made encroachment on government land i.e. khasra No.109/1 & some part of 106 also, but the colonizer still trying to Manipulate the land record & repeatedly being produce in the Deputy collector Nazul office & trying to sale the land through notifications in RAJ EXPRESS on 25th June 2006. as Said by Deputy collector nazul Ratlam.
One another case may repeat in group housing colony developed by same colonizer named Suyog Parisar Extension on the govt land Khasra No. 106 & 109/2 which clubbed in his own approved land khasra 104/1-4. Here this project is also seems case of encroachment & all the game being played mischievously by saying that colony is valid. They made it from on the basis of drawing approved by Asst Director, Town & Country Planning Department Ratlam vide letter No. 94/TCP/LP/07/04 Dt.06/03/2K4, in this letter firm has shown 9 bungalows of 7.62 meter width (225 ft) plus 7.5 meter. Road than one Bungalow of 12.20 meter thus total will be 289.64 ft. in the said letter of map has on the right side Patwari (Unsigned, but it is being tally with land records) map in which 256 ft maxm land comes than how 33.64 ft (289.64-256ft) comes additional land which results 22500 sq ft of 65 lakhs market value & property made on it is of more than 50 lakhs. There is some thing black at the bottom. These are one or two examples there is lot of land acquired by him & made projects like Suyog parisar, Sudama Parisar, Vardhaman Nagar etc there may also be irregularities & may reach up to multi crore scam. As in the said case no 2A/68/05-06 parties has admits irregularities. This not only one builder here are many more. On date 30 August 06 in daily “free press journal” on Scheme 132 Town & country planning department Indore has sanction 18 colony permitted which comes in investigation which results only transfers of top official who will made other scam at any other place or department.
The common man just look in to the all permission papers not gets physical
Verification from tehsil as that is quite difficult & not easily approachable.
This is being done in whole country. By the improving the loan sanctioning procedures land’s physical verification, it can be minimized.
We hope for early response in favour of Govt & innocent citizens.

    Thanks

    Dear Priyaji,
I admire you like anything the way you are carrying forward your late father’s political and social legacy. I understand only people like you can turn the destiny of this country towards the sustainable development, who are in politics, for rendering social service to the nation and not for minting money, as found in the case of other politicians. Unfortunately, the present political class doesn’t offer enough room to the people from middle elite class of the country. So, I would appreciate if you bring this to the notice of your party high command, so as to enable more and more highly educated people from middle class get election tickets of the congress part in the next elections.

Incidentaly, I may mention, that ShriSunil Duttji was friend of Giants International. We had honoured Sunil Duttji by GIANTS AWARD about 15 years ago. Padmashri Nana Chudasama is World Chairman of Giants International

  28. Hetal Says:

RTI sounds good. But needs to be complemented with perhaps what we may want to call as our ‘Right to Demand’. Only information is of little help. How successfully will one be able to use / execute that info would be the real litmus test.

To simplify, it is helpful to know how much tax we, others pay. It is also helpful to know where it gets utilised. But if can we participate in the allocation too, it would be great. I am keen to know where the 30% of my pay-check is used. I do not see less-potholed roads, better trains / buses, lesser people below poverty lines, improved standards of living, rise in education levels of the poors, cleaner roads, lesser epidemics or anything of this sort year on year. Atleast its not in proportion to the taxes that are collected!

Are MNCs better organised than the PSUs? Thats my opinion & belief atleast. Should we then not look at ‘outsourcing’ each of our cities to a professional management team who can help us shape better? At least our netas & leaders claim that they aspire Mumbai turns a Beijing / Singapore in a next few years but where is the roadmap? Is that not a part of RTI?
